I went to a huge Collegiate Career Fair and learned a valuable thing.
Be prepared to wait in line as if you're in line at 3:00pm without fastpass on a hot August day for Splash Mountain at WDW.
What a nightmare!!! You are not only competing with young entry levels at these fairs, you're in competition with everyone. It's like competing in a high school swim meet with Olympic athletes, hoping you'll sneak past everyone and take the bronze.
I came in with 30 copies of my resume and other works of Midge, and left with 24....
I don't want to say it was futile, but it sure felt that way as I drowned myself in my own lactic acid from my personal training session, and then drowned my liver in dos equis. Now I'm home with my perma position on my comfy couch watching Fashion Show and The Ring- flipping.
30,000 people applied to be public school teachers in NY, 700 got in. Then they called for a hiring freeze. What can people do in this? What can I do in this? This is CRAZY. Absolutely crazy. The magnitude of this recession is beyond my grasp, and my unemployment has been chipping at my life.
Can someone please give me a job? (that's more than my unemployment?)
